Tabospin Gold Deposit

On the 8 July 2006 SGC entered into a joint venture agreement with a Tajik registered Company called Kulla Ltd of which Saddleback has management and financial control.

Kulla has the exploration licence for a large gold property in Central Tajikistan called “Tabospin”, a property made up of three known ore bodies together with stretches of yet unexplored ground. The Russians carried out limited exploration declaring gold reserves according to Russian classifications as being

  • 200,000 oz gold in the C2 category
  • 750,000 oz gold in the P1 category

Thirty-seven exploration trenches were excavated in 1997 with gold grades being established from 1.93gm gold per tonne of ore to 8.76 gm gold per tonne of ore, mainly across good widths. Saddleback appointed Horizon Geological Services as an independent geological service provider to review the geological data available from which they were able to make an initial statement, “HGS considers the trench intercepts significant and indicate economic grades over mineable widths”.

Tajik Mountains near Tabospin Gold Property

The working season is eight months - April through November. Snow makes it impossible to carry out exploration work year round, however if a mine were developed and it is decided to go underground, then an all year round operation will be possible SGC agreed to finance and manage the further exploration of Tabospin to include all that would be necessary to support a major exploration drill programme. This included road construction to the proposed mine camp site by late 2006, road construction to the drill pad locations, hard rock exploration drilling and trenching, construction of a mine camp and the procurement of buildings, equipment and supplies as required from 2007.

Exploration Alliance Ltd (formerly Horizon Geological Services) was contracted to provide their geologists to map the licensed area, and to watch over the drill programme. A two year exploration drill programme was organized to begin in the 2007 season with all trenching samples and drill core samples from the drill programme to be assayed by Alex Stewart Assay and Environmental Laboratories in the Kyrgyz Republic, one of the few internationally approved laboratories in Central Asia.

Results from the drill programme have been encouraging and as a result Exploration Alliance Ltd has recommended that further exploration drilling be carried out.
