Zeddi Coal Deposit
|
|
In the summer of 2008 Saddleback entered into a joint venture with Sangalt Ltd to mine, a rich bitumous coal project called East Zeddi, with coal ready for immediate extraction. The East Zeddi bitumous coal deposit covers 1.2 sq kilometres, sits at an altitude of approximately 2800m and is located 78km north of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The deposit is comprised of over 17 million tonnes of coal with a high calorific value of just under 7,000 Kcal/kg.

Production commenced shortly after acquiring and production targets were greatly exceeded in the 2008 season. There proved to be a large domestic demand for the coal, with queues normally reaching up to 60 trucks. Saddleback also purchased its own fleet of new Kraz trucks to truck the coal to local markets. |

It is intended to significantly increase the tonnage of coal to be extracted from East Zeddi during the 2009 season.
This will be achieved by constructing a new haulage road to the deposit that will allow trucks to pass without stopping plus it will lengthen the mining season as it will enable the use of heavy snow removal equipment held in the Company inventory. |

Tajikistan requires a supply of approximately 250,000 tonnes of coal annually which at present is not being met and resulting in a shortfall. SGC is making every effort to be a major player to meet the requirements. |
